Exotimex is based in Rijnsburg and operates within the fresh produce sector. Reliable cooling is essential for daily operations and contributes to maintaining product quality and process continuity.
Exotimex wanted to replace its existing cooling system with a sustainable and energy-efficient solution without interrupting ongoing operations. Reliability and continuity were key requirements: the system had to remain fully integrated with the company's daily practices both during and after the conversion. At the same time, there was a clear ambition to structurally reduce energy consumption and take the next step toward fully gas-free operations.
Nijssen delivered a custom, transcritical CO2 cooling system with high operational reliability and low energy consumption. The system is equipped with heat recovery and a heat pump function to ensure available energy is utilized as efficiently as possible. By applying the latest Nijssen Coolmaster software, energy savings of approximately 20% are achieved. This resulted in the awarding of an EIA subsidy for both the installation and the software.
Phased replacement without process interruption
The unique aspect of this project is that the replacement took place within a fully operational facility. By carefully phasing the work and maintaining continuous coordination with the client, the cooling system was upgraded without disrupting business operations.
